Favorites

Favorites appear above everything else when you open the launcher with nothing typed.

Adding one

Select an entry and press ⇧⌘F, or choose ⌘K → Add to Favorites. The same shortcut and menu item remove it.

After you add a favorite, the selection moves to your first favorite. After you remove one, the selection moves to the favorite above it, so you stay in the Favorites section.

Files and folders

Files and folders can be favorites too, while File Search is on. Select one in Search Files, or in the launcher's Files section, and press ⇧⌘F. It joins the same Favorites section as your apps, with the same order and number keys.

• A favorite file is found by its name at any length, even with File Search's Show in launcher off. It shows in the Files section, above other matches.
• Tinycast keeps the path you saved. If you move or rename the file, add it again from its new place.
• Turning off File Search hides favorite files and folders, but keeps them for when you turn it back on.

Reordering

Favorites keep the order you give them. With nothing typed, select one and press ⌥⌘↑ or ⌥⌘↓, or choose ⌘K → Move Favorite Up or Move Favorite Down.

The selection moves with the favorite, so you can keep pressing the keys until it's where you want it.

Launching by number

⌘1 opens your first favorite, ⌘2 the second, and so on up to ⌘9. ⌘0 opens the tenth. Favorites after the tenth don't get a number, so move one up if you want a key for it.

The numbers follow key positions, so they work the same on any keyboard layout.

Hold ⌘ for a moment and each numbered favorite shows its number on the right side of its row.

The numbers only work while the Favorites section is visible, which means with nothing typed. Once you start typing, the list shows ranked results, so a position number wouldn't be meaningful.

In the clipboard screen, the same number keys paste your pinned entries instead.

In compact mode

The slim search bar of compact mode doesn't show your favorites, but the same numbers still open them. Press ↓ to open the full list.

Favorites and ranking

Opening a favorite with nothing typed, or by its number, counts as a use in learned ranking. It doesn't teach Tinycast a search word, since you didn't type one.

Favorites are included in backups, and the Raycast importer can bring them over.
